Friday Fun Stuff

It's FUN time again.... this Friday's selection is a trifecta of brand-sponsored interactive whosits. A lot of money is spent each year trying to engage consumers, and often the result is a bit iffy. But these projects are exactly the sort of thing we'd be delighted to encounter on our travels...

1. RedBall Project by Kurt Perschke

The RedBall Project wasn't created for a brand - it began as an artists' weird idea - put an enormous red ball in all sorts of unlikely places around the world for people to enjoy. But the Project's arrival in Paris is thanks to the 150th anniversary of Martini. Happy Parisiennes will be able to squish and squash the giant balls at various locations between 18th and 28th
April. What a good reason to pop over for the afternoon....

2. Quiet Motion by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

There are all sorts of product based inspirations for this project for BMW, but at the end of the day it's a super quiet hi-tech carousel for grown ups, and that's why we like it. That and the fact that someone appears to be reading on it in the publicity pictures (how?!?). We guarantee this wouldn't be such a quiet experience if we got within spitting distance, as team Teatime is given to overexcited shrieking in the presence of playground rides.

3. HondaTrope

Another variation on the whizzing-in-circles experience, this time brought to you by Honda. A really interesting concept actually, it places you at the centre of a zoetrope, but rather than making still images look like they're moving, this one uses a quirk of the way that eyes take in light to make poles with LEDs on them look like images. You might have to watch the video to get it, in which everyone is almost unbearably positive and pleased with themselves, but then you would be if you'd built this.
